View Full Version : connexion time out - Help for me ? ;)
Hi everyone,
First, forgime me for my poor level in english and thanks for answers. :)
I just arrived in UK and my housemate let me his connexion. I have a big problem on it. I don't find it in previous posts.
I am directly linked to the modem (250) and the sync, rdy, ethernet lights are lit on. I think my configuration is good (full dynamic) ans I have a valid ip. Better, I could ping and tracert.
Seem to be the best in the better world ? No, i can t access to websites. On my both system (linux and XP) webpages are timed out. Don t have firewall and proxy.
... It's doing like ports are blocked (http,https,21)
I don t understand ... where is the problem ?

no idea ? I've it will be a known problem.:disturbd:
It sounds like the modem is blocked, call virgin media and get them to check from there end.
Ps. another modem wont work, the account is for the modem they supplied.
I'm afraid to heard that. Right but I'm sorry for the poor guy who would try to understand what i'm saying.
thank
You will have an ip and be able to ping and run tracerts but if its blocked/cut off you will not be able to access the internet.
So no firewall at all and you are connected straight into modem?
PC clogged up with Adware or IP Stack knackered?
You really should use Firewall and NEVER plug directly into internet without at least the XP firewall switched on.
Lol I m running on Linux and I know how to use my share and the router have and internal firewall.
But for the moment the only thing who interested me is to have a connexion.
Its incredible : I could ping the web but not acess him. Boring. :(
... It s the same on windows.
In the other modem i've tried the last light isn't on and on the web interface of the modem there is writtent something like :forwarding denied. Normal ?
I'm sorry I was quite lost
Have you tried it without the router? You may need to reboot both the modem and reset the router as well.
Of course. It's the first thing i've done. When I'm running an Internet explorer scan (witch is well made), he say that my ports https https is block. Something could block theses ports in the modem (ntl 250) ?
Must I configure a proxy as I've read it somewhere.
can he get internet using the same modem as you ?
My house mate could connect before I arrive, I think but with the moden who said now : forwarding denied...
Incomprehensible
Hello!
Sorry my english is not so good as well. I am french and I am facing the same problem! I have got an IP address. Everything seems fine but it acts as my http port is blocked or something like that.
The tv works fine and the phone line as well, but I cannot access to the internet.... What the hell is going on?? I've called the support... (£1/min) and I've spent 15 minutes with them... they told me... Sorry we do not know... We have tried everything we usually do....
So what should i do... throw my modem by the window???
Thanks for anyone who can help me
