I wonder if anyone can help. I have made a bit of a cock of my ntl set up because I accidently screwed a screw into the coax wire from the front of the house. I have enough spare to cut some away and replace the connector which I have done with a screw on type as apparently these are easier.

Anyway the TV does work not but every now and then the picture judders, im presuming this is due to the screw on connector I have used.

Basically I would be interested to know how to fit one of the crimp connectors like ntl use? If this would be easy enough to get right.

Steps and possibly pictures of how too would be a help from any people in the know about these things. I crimp RJ45s on a daily basis but have always used screw on connectors in my dealings with Coax obviously this is not good enough for cable.

Cheers

Try this:

...but you'll need the right tool - and they're not cheap!

Thanks, I have tried rebooting STB to no avail, tried adjust where the braid is and adjusting the size of core no luck. May just be cheaper to call VM! what sort of cost are the correct tools.

It might be possible to crimp it on using a set of pump pliers.

:D I think the screw may have been my fault! So it would most likely be £25 will see how I get on with crimping!

Thanks very much for all your help it is much appreciated. The pictures will be most useful, I have kindly been offered the loan of the proper tool so will give it a shot. Will practice on a old bit of cable first.

The are not crimps they are snap and seal connectors most people use ppc or thomas & betts snap and seal connector they can be brought cheap from ebay usa,

All cable companys and pro satellite engineers (not sky installers they use the cheap screw on ones) use them i have used them for years on satellite,

Thanks to the kindly sent equipment, instructions and connectors, along with the excellent pictures I now have my TV Up and running again properley with no jumping picture. The snap and seal connectors give a 100% better quality connection than the screw on ones. I am surprised how much of a difference it makes no wonder my Sky Signal was always so poor.

Thanks to all those who helped.
