Hi To everyone,
This is a bit of a last resort for me, over the past couple of months my BB connection has been getting worse and worse to the point where web pages take 10+ secs to load and d/ling from Newsgroups or websites (tried Microsoft and download.com) are painfull. Just tried 2 of the Speed tests around and got
1st 512K took 16157 ms = 31.7 KB/sec, approx 261 Kbps, 0.25 Mbps
2nd 512K took 17359 ms = 29.5 KB/sec, approx 243 Kbps, 0.24 Mbps
3rd 512K took 7344 ms = 69.7 KB/sec, approx 574 Kbps, 0.56 Mbps
4th 512K took 9187 ms = 55.7 KB/sec, approx 459 Kbps, 0.45 Mbps
Overall Average Speed = approx 384 Kbps, 0.38 Mbps
Have phoned Tech support twice in the last week, first time they blames my firewall which was a bit weird as it has been fine for the last year. so uninstalled that and tried again, next day exactly the same so phoned Tech support (50 mins at 5p/Min) didn't find any fault and blamed an oversubscribed UBR. I have got a blue NTL250 modem connected through ethernet. In the oxford area.
Getting really frustated with this now after 4 years of pretty much faultless NTL service it has taken a couple of months for virgin to totally mess it up.
sorry for the length of this,
Any help or suggestions would be gratefully accepted.
