Hi,

I have just had VM install the VIP Package, although they need to come back and finishing install my Multiroom (still not done and its been three weeks now)

Anyway. I am meant to be on 10Mbit BB. At first, they mistakenly put me on 2Mbit but that was sorted after a phone call. However, speeds over the last four or so days have been, well, ****ing ****e. My upload is currently faster than my download speed. I am getting less than 500k:(

Can someone tell me whether this is normal for cable broadband, I've never experienced such terrible speeds with ADSL.

I'm based in Wales, Cardiff. Whats the point of having 10, 4 and 2Mbit BB when I'm getting speeds slower than the old 512k. :(

10Mb, he means 1280kBps download speed. Like what you'd see in an Internet Explorer download box.

Right. Is it a capacity problem or something because this morning around 6am I got my full 10Mbit speed.

Could well be congestion (capacity problem) right now i get 9.3Mb from my 10. In the evening i get anywhere from 0.5mb to 6Mb. Depends on how many people are using it lately it seems :(

Im also based in Cardiff, in the Llanrumney area.
I have been getting the full 10mbps speed with my old NTL100 Modem!!
Are you connected through ethernet? or USB?

I have the same in Manchester. Same VIP package for £85.00

This is becoming a joke! I called tech support who went through the usual caching etc. did some downloads and other tests, saw my packet loss rate was high and spoke to second line support who said there was an issue but should be resolved in 2 days. 2 weeks later nothing

150 to 300kbps at peak times is normal for me :( , others can run at 9,000+kbps 24/7, everyones experience will be different.

I'm also in Cardiff (Grangetown) and have the same problems. Peak times (evenings) I can get as low as 400Kbps. At other times I normally get 3-4Mbps. Only once have I ever got close to 10meg and that was ridiculously early in the morning.

Have any of you guys complained and if so, have you got anywhere? I don't see why I should be paying for a 10Mbit service to only get 400Kbps. Like I said, I never had such awful speeds using ADSL.

Yes, the customer service has been very good and most helpful through all of my problems, i currently pay a reduced amount.

You may have to push quite hard to get an upgrade date though, but just don't accept "I don't know" as an answer.

I would complain but for two things.

1. I really didn't notice until I carried out a speed test - I don't download a lot - mainly surfing and e-mail and the speed issue doesn't really bother me.

2. I'm on the staff package and get it for next to nothing so I think it's a bit rude to complain! ;)

Kraized - What area of Cardiff are you in?
