Does anyone know the SMS service numbers?
I've just bought a new SMS compatable phone and want to set it up to send and receive SMS messages - I've seen reference to the service on the VM website but no details.
The phone instructions say I need two service phone numbers - one number for sending SMS and one for receiving it.
I already have caller display. Just to help I live in GU15 (Camberley Surrey) and I am a former NTL customer.
I have tried ringing the VM call centre but have given up with wait times in excess of 20/30 mins. :(
Any help appreciated.

Dunno if VM are using the same system though.

Thanks Paul,
I think these are the Virgin Mobile SMS numbers - I am looking for the SMS service I can use with my Virgin Media Landline phone (ex NTL).
BT offer this service and I believe Virgin do too, but I haven't found the set up details anywhere...

looks like all UK PSTN providers use the same network

Thanks,
I've checked these out - I'm now beginning to think that Virgin does not support landline SMS text on some NTL exchanges with caller ID (like ours). I tried all the SMS number combinations but no luck.
I would love to hear from any V Media customer that has this service.
It is interesting to note however that Telewest did appear to support it on their exchanges.
Does anyone know the current position from V Media?
I'll try CS again but I haven't had much luck so far....

AFAIK, ex-telewest sides of the network "may" support SMS over POTS.
I know that ex-NTL do not and have not (to the best of my knowledge) ever, supported SMS over landline.
If I hear any updates regarding this feature, I will let you know.

Thanks,
I guess that just confirms tha bad news. I can just hope that one day all the VM networks will be harmonised and all the advertised features made available to everyone! :)
