When I get my V+ box and a standard box for the bedroom installed on the 14th, will the boxes be brand new or refurbished?

It all depends on what the engineer has in the van at the time.

You mean I could get somebody else's rejects?

They'll be perfectly restored as if they were new... So i don't see the big deal to be honest.

Plus, if one happens to fail after however long, they will replace it free of charge.

Better than SKY (spit..spit  ) I guess. After 12 months you have to fork out for any call outs!

And I suppose it's like any electrical item - after the guarantee runs out, it's sods law that it goes wrong...

It is the general idea that they repair them to a state equal to when they were new.

The engineer who installed my V+ box yesterday said that they don't install old equipment now - all boxes are new....

I feel a lot happier if that is the case. Installation due on Wednesday 14th March.:D

Well there were no fingerprints on mine, and the protective film was still over the display!

Had mine installed today. Due at 13.00, arrived 5 minutes early. All new equipment, V+ and Standard box. Very helpful chap, on secondment from Bristol to help with the work load. Took just 45 minutes. He had to phone twice to get things activated. It's impressive stuff!!:)

Err no sorry but thats so not the case. The software is just reloaded, a quick check clean it up and out it comes again. About 30% fail on :erm:

There are probably not enough v+ box's in circulation to be able to use them for installs. I would imagine that service techs use the recon units more.

The installers and service techs just use what their given, there is no preference to give one new and the other recon boxes. I understand that the V+ boxes are in short supply at the moment so chances are you will be getting a new box but in a few years time that will not be the case.
