hello to everyone! i have problem connecting to any site with http://membres.lycos.fr in the url. does anyone else from the uk have this prob? other users from around the world dont seem to have any trouble and i have been using lycos.fr for years without any hitch.
i have contacted virgin media to see if they are blocking but no reply, i had no probs when the ip was telewest. i've empted all my caches/temps/cookies etc, used opera, ie 7 and ie 6, disconnect firewalls on different pc's to no avail and the only way i can connect is by proxy. all other connections are ok. thanks

thanks mike, i use grab,cc proxy and are able to connect ok albeit slow, i have since used a trace prog and it seems to ping out ok to lyceu.net which is of course lycos (tripod free hosting).

just got a reply off tech support Thank you for contacting the Econtact Support Team.

I am sorry to hear you have been having issues with your broadband
service.

Can you try setting a proxy by going to Tools, Internet Options,
Connections, LAN Settings and adding webcache.blueyonder.co.uk on port
3128. Then try the sites.
If you can then get in, it would point to a filter on their site having
not been updated for the new range of addresses we have been assigned.
If that's the case we will contact them to try and get them to update
their lists.

Please contact us if you have any further queries.

Yours sincerely,

Dave Lowings

What are your local proxies?

jkat

thanks simbr! as far as I know telewest (virgin media) dont use proxies?? but I had to use a proxy site to connect which is unsatisfactory in that i cannot use the regular features of a forum.
