hi all a quick question on the older gray modem (think its called ntl 100)
is there a known problem releasing this type of modem from USB to ERthnet
#
I have tried this to no aveil
turn off pc
unplug modem power cable
unplug usb from pc and modem
plug in ethernet to modem and pc
resatert modem
wait for lights to stop flasing
turn on pc

i am in colchester and old ntl service
a friend said yes vm say no

i have the same modem and often have change between USB and Ethernet and have no problems

i follow your steps exactly aswell, so not sure, but maybe allow an extra minute or so before unplugging and plugging and turnings things on again

but also i forot to say when i reverse above back to usb theres no problem

Are you setting up Internet explorer to use LAN connection on your ethernet card. Never used USB so don't know how that works.

When you use USB it will just create another adapter, works the same as Ethernet just that you need to install the drivers for the modem. I've come across several modems where the Ethernet portion just crapped out, sometimes just the CAT5 cable crapped out but I'm sure you tried that already.

;) Thanks all for reply i had aweekend with slow or no connection so i couldnt relpy sooner but something worked as which i dont know which as i tried all the above today and hey im now ethernted thanks all agian :disturbd:
