Hi,

Sorry if this seems a daft question, but I've noticed that sometimes the advice given is to power down - everything including the modem and router. If you do this, when you switch everything on again are the network settings retained or to you have to start again?

Sorry, could someone move this question to the Computers & IT/Networking forum - thought that's where I was posting from doh!

The network settings are retained.

It was only in the past that if users left their modems off for a long period of time then the settings would have to be re-configured.
This is no longer the case and it is up to you wether you turn off your modem.

Do remember that whenver you boot up again, first switch on the modem, wait for it's lights to settle (Sync and Rdy are on), then turn on a router if you have one, and then lastly your PC.

Thanks you!
