How did ntl justify £5.50 for an alarm call ? Could not get an answer!
Will Virgin Media justify this ?

Reminder Call
Need to book an alarm call? No worries. We can give you a wake up call whenever you like. Just dial 150 free from your Virgin Phone or on 0845 454 1111. It costs £1.75 per month.

It sounds like the wake up call you had was arranged through the operator which is organised by BT which is why you have been charged so much.

Thanks for that. Having spoken to customer services and been talked through the £1.75 option,I tried it only to find it did not work. Now customer services tell me the procedure no longer exists !
You could buy a cheap alram clock for £5

It is still there, if you're having a problem with it, call faults on 151.

Sounds like the customer service agent needs some education. :D
I am in Winnersh Thames Valley and I have Call Reminder, once set up by customer services you just key *73 and the reminder time (24 hour clock) and press # and you will get a reminder at that time.
Use it as many times for just the one off monthly fee £1.75
