Where abouts in Edinburgh are you (Postcode)? I'm in EH11 and had speed problems since October (2 months after I signed my contract). Unlike yourself, I reported and will receive a refund in full after my year. I do feel for you dood, Telewest have been far from helpful in sorting out the problem, with one agent saying that Virgin Media will solve all my problems, however when I asked when, they said sometime soon. Nice a exact eh?

The previous months are gone dood. You could ask for a reduced bill the next time you call due to degridation in service.

The tier 2 support told me it was due to the number of 10mb users leeching that it causes contention on the network and the other users get swamped out. Until they introduce traffic management into the area the problem will not go away, it is that or upgrade the network and that is not going to happen anytime soon.

Try this link and down load the file, it is Battlefield 2 demo and its from a Blueyonder server. Now I've been told that BY guarentee full speed to their servers and after that its your problem.

Download it a couple of times and check the speeds. Do it say mid afternoon on a week day then after 6. these are the times when my connection starts to slow down at the BY servers end.

After a quick search I managed to find something relating to the lack of speed in the Edinburgh area.

Could it be anything to do with this (http://www.lbp.police.uk/press_release/articles/2007/January/08/2.htm)?
