sunncomm is a company which is incharge of providing anti copy protection software to corporate clients it recently stated after sucessful rigorous testing its anti copying software was sucessful in protecting a cd and maintaining compatability with various players

http://www.p2pnet.net/article/7626

but within hours of the announcement a music cd with the protection was digitally released on p2p networks so the attempts to keep the cd from entering p2p networks failed and if your a windows user all it took was holding the 'shift' key down for 4 seconds

All the money and effort being spent on making CD's un-copyable should have been spent in refining the CD making process and lowering the costs of CD's.

Then and probably only then will a reduction, yes a reduction not a complete halt, in MP3 trading would happen.

I openly admit that I have previously downloaded one or two movies and a fair few MP3's from P2P sites. The quality is crap in th emovies and as a result I have recently started purchasing the DVD's from play.com. Mp3's I find are miss named, are of poor quality or have the ending missing. As a result of this and discovering that play.com sell audio cd's for under a tenner I have recently given up on mp3 too.

As Bill Gates once said you cannot stop piracy unless you introduce hardware to stop it. Then again the companies that make the hardware could also put easter eggs on their to get around that for people in the know like the region codes on dvd players

I've tried that in the past and the quility is the same as the DVD. You could have got a camcorder copied movie ;)

To be honest, most of the stuff i have seen downloaded have been high quality if they have been out for a while. Most new films are pretty bad however. And as for cds.....well in some p2p networks you can download the whole album with the album covers if you want......i think thats whole problem!
