Hey there,
I have been uploading to my site via ftp and before it used to around 4-5 kb/s upload speed and i could continue browsing the internet.
However when i upload know its at 10 kb/s and my whole connection slows down an i cannot browse the internet.
As my website develops i am uploading larger files more often and i am getting annoyed?
What is causing this and is there a solution?
I am on 1mb

hi and :welcome: to the site , simple , you need to stop saturating your upload , knock it back to say 5-6 kbs and the problem will dissapear , btw , i hope you enjoy your stay here :tu:
Also, before you blame ntl its the nature of how TCP/IP works.

Dont think i have or would blame ntl for it.
I could see something was diffrent with the upload.
Not sure how to knock it down but i will try
thanks

hiya :welcome:
- what ftp prog are you using to upload?
I am using fireftp, at the moment, but that doesn't seem to offer a throttle option, either :)
Yeah, check for an option on your ftp client like homealone suggested. Failing that, you can try a bandwidth limiting tool...netlimiter (http://www.netlimiter.com/), dumeter to name two.
Fiddle around and find the best compromise; i've found 80% to be a good amount to limit your upload to :)

if you use netlimiter you can make the uploads go any speed you want in the ftp very handy :)
