Hello! i'm back again looking for a little advice (seeing as you guys seem to be so good at giving it!) well here it is 8 weeks ago i split with my long term boyfriend and we currently still live together, before my exams we agreed i would move out on july 1st. now i'm really excited about a new start but i can't seem to find anywhere to live, basically i'm looking to stay in the machester area and get a houseshare with 2-3 other professionals, but i can't find anywhere and time is running out! i've tried local papers, notice boards etc with no luck, does anyone know where else to look websites etc?

thank you in advance if you can help! ;)

Try your local council, they usually have lists of various places/letting agents through the housing department. Other than that estate agents are a possibility. Or local news agents ad boards.

won't the council just have council houses? no offense intended but that's not what i'm looking for, i've tried local newsagents but they only seem to have student houseshares! and the local estate agents only do whole house lets?!

No such thing as a council house these days but they do know loads about local housing stock. You never know there may even be council staff looking for an extra bod. Alternatively put an ad in the local paper (with a box number) that may work. Or see if there is a staff notice board at the airport as I seem to remember you may be looking for that line of work.

Pity you didn't post this a couple of weeks ago, my step daughter was looking for someone to share her house, but she's got someone now.

Well done :) So the new pad is 2 mins from you and you didn't know it was available :disturbd: Hope the move goes smoothly, at least you can start providing your new address to everyone that will need it far enough in advance so that nothing should get messed up lol.

yep, but because it's a houseshare it's not really advertised! i'm soo excited now, i want to move in right away! glad you reminded me, didn't even think about changing my address again, still trying to escape from ntl so with a bit of luck i won't have to tell them!

All NTL need to know is that you are moving, as long as your contract is paid up you should have nothing to worry about. As for address changes you need to make sure all the main ones are covered as soon as possible (banks, utilities, tax man, tv license, phone etc) and if you need you can always pay for a re-direct on your mail for a month (good way to find out who you haven't remembered to give your new address to lol).

my ex is staying at our old place so he can be my re direction service! ha as for the ntl hmm i work for them! and they won't let me cancel! i've even had my team leader on the phone to them! lol nevermind, ahhh the joys of a houseshare all the utilities ect are in my new housemates names so all i have to do is remove my name from the joint accounts i had with my ex. the only part i'm dreading is the dreaded hunt for cardboard boxes! hated doing that everytime i moved when i was at uni!

You can buy them you know :p: Failing that the local supermarkets are normally helpful.

You can buy them from places like office world, staples etc
http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/Catalog/cat_results.asp?txtSearch=cartons&Page=2
You can get larger boxes from specialists, a company I worked for used 4ft square, 4ft high boxes, they cost over £10 each though ;)

Service areas for shopping parades usually are a good source for cardboard boxes. Ask the shopkeeper first though. Last time I wanted a few I asked the driver of a courier service who was delivering to me where I could get some and he said "leave it to me, how many do you want" and returned the following day with more than I really needed.
