Do the lights on the SACM start flashing randomly at all or do the SYNC and RDY lights stay locked on? It would be more likely that something is causing the PC to drop it's connection to the SACM.
Do you have any firewalls running?

Any clues as to what firewall?
Are you doing anything in particular when the connection drops or is it general browsing?

Outpost firewall.
Just browsing can cause it to drop.
It seems to drop every couple of hours

Have you tried running without Outpost but with XP's built in firewall to see if it's a problem with the firewall rules table? No firewall is perfect and sometimes the rules table gets damamged and things start mis-behaving.
Also have you contacted NTL customer support and asked to have your signal levels checked on the modem to rule that out?

Will try both thanx
Just checked LAN settings showing 4 ip addresses
1) 192.xxx local netbios
2)169.xxx local netbios
both are ticked box in net bios
The other 2 are 82.xx showing internet with no marks
Do you think removing the 169 from the firewall as all netbios for this is allowed to block would help??
