It's ossum - and I love the way that no matter how insanely intelligent us humans think we are, we will never ever have control over the power which created that beauty :)

Never mind soldier, get your wife to tuck you up in bed and read you a nice bedtime story, there's a good chap. ;) :D

EDIT: Actually some of those images are rather stunning, nice find. :tu:

I recognise those photos..they come from my coffee table book entitled 'The Earth From The Air.The Earth is a beautiful wonder resource for an artist.I could use everyone of those for a beautiful work of art.Several of them would make a wonderful weaving or freestyle embroidered hanging...

Nice one Rammy.. :tu:

a lot of these (probably all, actually) are on display at the open air art gallery in birmingham city centre (by the big wheel). they are massive prints, and look even better close up :)

they have captions too, explaining where they are and what they are ;)

Never say never ;)

I'd rather think we never could. That kind of power in human hands would only be abused, and certainly lead to the destruction of Earth.

Nice find, not all those places are as beautiful as they look though.

This one, for example, looks like a beautiful sandy golden beach:

Download Failed (1)

But when I was there a few years ago the "sand" was actually extremely pointy stones and shale which was difficult and painful to walk on. Oh yeah, and there was a cow rotting in one corner of the beach, it had fallen off of the cliff above.

Let's hope the Earth looks and stays looking like that in the future. But that's me asking for too much :(

we will never ever have control over the power which created that beauty

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but the majority of those photos show the result of deliberate human activity and a number of others are a combination of humanity and nature, so we are indeed the power that created much of that beauty. Take a bow, us.

[mind you, we also created a lot of deserts and Teesside, but we'll ignore that]

How did I know it would be you....!

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but the majority of those photos show the result of deliberate human activity

We didn't create it though.

and a number of others are a combination of humanity and nature,

Combination? Right, so we didn't create it alone then.

so we are indeed the power that created much of that beauty.

O....K.......if you say so....

Take a bow, us.

I suppose there will always be humans who get it in to their heads that we can actually control this power. Won't happen.
