My problem is I keep getting disconnected and have packet loss, ready light often goes out on modem and sometimes the sync too. This tends to happen mostly during the daytime (7/8am-6/7pm) and it seems worse in hot/sunny weather.

This has been going on for a couple of months now, I've had 3 engineer visits so far to try and resolve this problem. Twice they've changed the attenuator thing on the modem and and once the modem itself.

I'm in the Guildford franchise i think, maybe portsmouth, postcode start is GU33. Computer is running windows 2k with the cable modem connected directly to a network card. Running zonealarm firewall but turning it off makes no difference to this prob.

My problem is I keep getting disconnected and have packet loss, ready light often goes out on modem and sometimes the sync too.There is nothing you can do to fix this other than keep reporting to NTL that your modem lights are going out, and getting an engineer to come out. The problem is nothing to do with your PC.
