My girlfriend, who often plays the 'impoverished student' angle (ie I always end up paying....) has shown me this (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com) site, ideal for those on a budget or just looking for ways to ease the expense of day to day living :)

The worse things is we're classed as self-employed or freelance, so we have to do our own tax and NI. It's so easy to forgot those then you get landed with a nice large tax bill - and that's why I'll be using that site!
