the url doesn't seem to resolve to an ip using 3 different dns servers...

It's very odd.

It's basically the host of my own site, which went down this morning.

Seen a couple of posts elsewhere showing that one of the imagelink servers was recently used to send a lot of spam out, maybe it's offline while they are investigating it??

Ah, hadn't heard that...maybe that's the problem. Thanks for the info.

Their entire network seems to be down as well. Not only my site, but three other sites (which I know reside on different Imagelink servers), plus their own site and related domain names such as websitesergaent.com (which I think they own).

Very suspect...it almost looks like they've gone under.

Well it's been down four hours now...if it's still down when I return from work I'll have to set about putting a backup on another server.

In grossly over-simplified terms, It suggests that your computer can't find a route through the internet to the site you're trying to connect to. I had a similar error when I tried.

It suggests to me that they have moved thewebsite to a different server with a different IP address, and we will have to wait up to 72 hours while that fact is transmitted to the internet's Domain Name Servers (sort of like the roadsigns of the information superhighway).

with an explanation of how part of their datacenter (sic) had been taken out by a power cut. - sounded nasty ;)

Yep - looks like you were a victim of the DC power failure.
