Thanks.

Having said that, most of the clocks in my house are set automatically now. Even my watch reads the time signal from Rugby.

Thanks for the reminder.

And if you're High Church C of E and go to one of those early Easter Sunday morning Christ-Is-Risen services, then you'll have to get up at an even more ungodly (or should that be godly :)) hour.

I'm such a muppet

I put all my clocks forward one hour last night, due to bank holiday weekend confusion making me think yesterday was Satruday :dunce:

I could've had another hour in bed! :(

And if Charles Kennedy gets into power he has proposed moving two hours forward in spring and two hours back in autumn! :shocking:

Good job there's no chance of that happening! :D

Why do we still have this whole BST thing anyway?

Is there really any need now to change the clocks like this each year?

Matthew

Matt D I personally do not think that there is any point.

BTW all papers will be one hour late to shops tomorrow morning due to the distributers loosing one hour.

I vaguely remember the "reason" for it being something to do with farmers, or Scottish schoolkids or something?

Permanent summertime meant that daybreak at midwinter in Scotland was around 10 o'clock in the morning. The argument for retaining it was, IIRC, less traffic accidents involving pedestrians with lighter evenings.

Well at the height of winter when I go outside and wait at the bus stop for college (7:45am or something) it's very dark. If there were no daylight saving adjustments it would be pitch black at that time, and I suppose it can be dangerous for people to be walking around crossing roads and stuff at that time.

To be honest, I can't remember all the details but what I can is that morning darkness does not have the same effect as evening darkness where pedestrian accidents are concerned.

Damn BST! It's nearly a quarter past 3!

Fool. The night is one hour shorter, so what do I do? I stay up even later than normal. D'Oh.

Just found a message on my answer machine - my parents had forgotten to put the clock forward :D One of my dad's mates turned up to give him a lift and my dad couldn't understand why he was an hour early :D

Ahhh !!! Its 5pm already. Atleast it day light outside which is a good thing.
Would be nice if it was a bit more sunny though for Easter day.

Isn't that nice - I got a call from work at 4.30 this morning asking me if I knew that the clocks had gone forward and that I had to be at work in less than half an hour.

Just a shame that they woke everyone up. I guess it would have been too much like hard work for them to have had the common sense to call my mobile.

Oh well....

Oh [beep] I wish I had seen this thread yesterday. It might have warned me to change the clocks.

Meanwhile I awake at what I thought was 07:10 thinking plenty of time before a course was due to start at 08:00, only to have my phone ring seconds later as they ask where I was :( :dunce:

Stupid system.

er Maybe, next time Mick starts a thread like this he can make my computer screen flash up a warning :D

Couldn't be bothered to read the whole thread, don't forget what? Anyway can't hang around, Corrie's going to be on.
