Right, ive got a BIG prob with Internet Explorer 6. Now when i go to a web page it sometimes doesn't come up and i get in the address bar C:\WINDOWS\gloogrlggsg.htm#http://www.nicka.demon.co.uk/. And it says "Search The Web". Now it shouldn't do that, it should come up with Page Cannot Be Displayed. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Any help welcome.

Hmm without more info it looks like something could have tried taking over your browser and its very easy. You dont even have to download anything these days just clicking on certain webpages can do it. I'd try giving Spybot a try

Anti-virus should only stop E-mails that are infected. Have you checked your mail account settings o make sure they are pointing to
pop.ntlworld.com
and
smtp.ntlworld.com

As for IE6 I would do as sugested and go here:
http://download.com.com/redir?pid=10194058&merid=104443&mfgid=104443&edId=3&siteId=4&oId=3000-2144-10194058&ontId=2144&ltype=dl_dlnow&lop=link&destUrl=%2F3001-2144-10194058.html and get Spybot. Install it and run it.

I had exactly the same problem and cured it wit ad-aware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

good luck

I also use Ad-aware after finding the XUPITER/SQWIRE spyware was redirecting my home page to the sqwire home page. Although I haven't tried it myself, I have heard reports that Spybot can delete wanted files as well as the spyware ones.

I'm not sure if spyware is the problem here though, as WNA is being redirected to his own hard drive & website.

C:\WINDOWS\gloogrlggsg.htm#http://www.nicka.demon.co.uk/

Strange.

First its no good using antivirus software to sort these kinda problems out because ther not all class as virus's and so will not be detected second spybot is allot better then adaware I think you'll find

Spybot really didn't like the desktop icon for winamp 3 that I had.

EDIT: I've got both adaware & spybot, it seems what one misses the other finds & vice-versa. I've done scans with one, that was okay and then done a scan with the other and thats found something.

I use both spybot & adaware, as well, & agree with that.

The perfect solution to that virus called IE can be downloaded from here (http://www.mozilla.org/). ;)

Roger... How can you say IE is a virus?

Virii are compact clean and efficient, do exactly what they are supposed to do, and are well supported by their creators... Therefore NO MS product is a virus!
