No, I don't think they should be. Slightly macabre thing to want to listen to IMO. :(

What would publishing them achieve?

What prupose does it serve? We know these people died, we all saw the images on TV.
I personally think its some kind of underhand way of getting the American public to re-support American global conquests. The support for the war in Iraq is flagging so lets bring out the 9/11 tapes again.

Its sick plain and simple.

I do not understand the need for these transcripts to be put in the public domain.

Maybe if the families wanted them then they could have them, but as for public access ????? Why ???

These should be the personal property of the families concerned

Ghoulish behaviour disguised as 'freedom' is an American disease. It's the same mentality that means New York street traders can sell postcards of the towers burning.

Very, very sad.

Yup. A friend went to New York late last year. She returned somewhat disillusioned. Needless to say she didn't buy one of the postcards.

The tapes shouldn't have been released, if anything though the transcripts or tapes SHOULD have been made available to the next of kin, but ONLY for those who requested them so they knew what the last words of their loved ones were....

General release was somewhat insensitive.
