Best way to pay someone elses bill

I'm going to be paying my g/f's phone bill tonight. I was just wondering what would be the best method to do this.

I've read a few "horror" stories about giving them credit card details, would it be better to use my online banking to pay them? Or would I be "ok" if I told (not asked) them not to record my details?

It would probably be easiest to pay by online banking as this will just go through "no questions asked".

P.S. My experience recently has been that it takes ages to get through to somebody to pay the bill by card. Then when I have done, I have been told that the payment department is closed (at the weekend) so I rang back on Monday and even through my card details were taken the payment was never made!

Yes, the sort code and account number are on the back of the bill and the reference number is your girlfriend's account number (on the front).
