Cheers Paul, giving it a whirl :)

One thing I think people should remember when trying BETA release software out is that System Restore will resolve a lot of problems that might be caused by unstable trial software. Just in case ;)

Well 2000 doesn't contain System Restore so that's me out, but I've just got it updated and tried a scan and the scan is VERY fast now, said straight away that there was no Spyware on my PC :erm:

So far i've found no bugs.

mmm, does the beta contain anything worth having, over and above what you would get on an update of the present version ??

Well the speed of the scan is probably the best thing so far, there's about another 180 things to be blocked in IE and it auto updates while in the setup process.

What did it mangle? I tried installing it over the top of a normal Spybot install and it blocked my internet connection, I did a system restore, uninstalled the old version of spybot, rebooted and then the BETA installed perfectly.

Cheers Paul. Just installed it on a fresh install of XP (don't ask) and it seems cool..

Nothing interesting. Just installed a driver that was causing a few problems. Problem was, I uninstalled it and still had problems...

No big deal, I didn't have a lot of software to re-install.

LOL so I aint the only one sick of seeing that everytime I run a scan, you think they would have sent out a program update for 1.3 by now to fix that issue. :erm:

Personally, I would rather they didn't fix it.

As I understand it, the particular exploit you are referring to is actually an unpatched flaw in IE. I would rather know that it exists (until MicroShaft fix it of course) than skip merrily along in the knowledge that it was still there but SB S&D didn't report it any more.

I'm happy to be wrong though :D

DSO Exploit STILL comes up.

Hi Everyone

Here is a link to download a fix for the DSO Exploit.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4392.html

After installing the fix you will need to will need to do a scan in Spybot and fix the Dso Exploit and then Re-Boot. I had to re-boot a couple of times, but it permanantly stops it showing.

After successful installation your Spybot startup window should state Spybot S & D 1.3.1TX and you will never see DSO Exploit again.

Best of Luck

Church Mouse ;)

Ok, so, does that stop Spybot showing the DSO exploit or does it actually fix the exploit?

AFIK MS HAVE fixed it (assuming you are up to date with fixes), but there is a bug in SpyBot which still reports it each time. Just downloaded the fix linked to above, and running to see if now OK.

Installed fix. Ran Spybot - reported DSO exploit x 5. Fixed. Re-ran Spybot (no reboot). 'Congratulations no problems found'. Thanks Church Mouse. Now I WILL have that bottle of wine!
