I really should post this in the webspace discussion but it doesnt seem to be used as much as this forum so i hope this isnt moved straight away so ill try anyway.

Basically I have no idea how to use my ntl webspace that I have. I want to put some songs on it so people can hear some of my music but i have no idea how to go about doing this. Do i need to register on ntlworld somewhere ? Ive had a look at the webspace on the ntlworld site but it doesnt help me at all to be honest. Do I need to register a URL somewhere ? Any help would be much appreciated as I am completely clueless as to how I go about creating a simple site.

It's usually in the form of http://homepage.ntlworld.com/primaryusername/ to access it over the web and ftp://username:password@upload.ntlworld.com to upload files.

Yes - it's a case of opening up the ftp and drag and drop the files in to it that you wish to upload to your webspace.

The only thing I found was that you have to use your original password given to you by NTL.

One other point to note make sure they are your own songs.

If they not and they are copyrighted then you will be in deep deep deep doo dah.

Which is what I always thought, and what worked before, but as of yesterday that hasn't worked.

I have double checked (triple checked and quadruple checked) that I'm using the right username (my primary username) and password (the password for my primary username, i.e. my dial-in password).

Can anyone shed any light on what's up?

If you've ever changed your primary username, then you need to use the original one given to you by NTL at the start.
It's a bug. :)

Well it's not actually a bug.

It was set this way so that if someone changes their primary username after uploading to their web space and then decided to change their primary username and hadn't made a back up of their web site, they wouldn't automatically loose the only copy they have.

If you do change your primary username and also want to change you web space log in, give tech support a ring and they can change it for you. :p

Afraid I still can't get FTP to my webspace to work (not through Internet Explorer at least).

I've never changed my primary username, nor my primary username's password. (I use another username for my main email service.)

This is what I type into IE's address bar, and it used to work:

ftp://username:password@upload.ntlworld.com

Maybe the problem is at NTL's end, i.e. they have a corrupted database. What's the best way to contact them (preferably not through the expensive helpline)?

My problem - that I also posted on this new thread (http://nthellworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2376), has been resolved. See the new thread for the resolution.
