Hi guys & gals

I'm on Ntl 600k, i've been on this for 1 year now without problems.
but these last few days have been a nightmare, my net is surfing really slow.
Now on my correct connect i keep getting a red cross through my default gateway.
I just bought a new ethernet cable but i'm still getting the red cross through my default gateway.
When i refresh it i get a tick but then the red cross comes back.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Well, i dont have NTL (any more) but it could be connected with the rise in internet traffic from the recent visruses

I 'think' alot of the ntl network is slow at the moment with all the viruses knocking about, so i wouldn't worry to much.

Go and have a few beers and enjoy the long weekend away from your comp ;)

Have you rang NTL at all?

Try uninstalling Correct Connect, Going to "Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Never Dial a Connection", and then See if it works any better.. Correct Connect is crap anyway.

Try the edit above first, dont think it'l help much.. But at least it gets correct connect off your system.. as it doesnt do anything for you anyway. Then Ring NTL tommorow, and ask why your speed is so slow.

Hi guys
One more thing before i phone ntl, on my modem that i got from ntl.
My ethernet light flickers, but the 4 other lights are static now.
Is that what they are meant to do? i always thought a few more of them flickered.

Hi

I use an Apple iMac and I had problems with very slow browsing or 'Sites not being found' over the holiday weekend. Apparently ntl had a problem with one of its DNS clusters on Saturday and yesterday morning causing the above.

There is a status line you can ring - 0800 052 4315. There was a message on the line to do with Windows XP/2000 and the 'so.Big' worm. Apparently the worm can cause slow browsing, performance issues etc.

Michael

Forgot to mention that I have 600K broadband through STB so I cannot comment on the stand-alone cable modem.

Hi guys
Just an update, it's running nice & fast now :D
NTL shut my connection off as they said my pc had a virus :(
so the sent me virus cleaners ect, the pc had the (Welchia) virus.
The pc has now been cleared of this & is running well again.

So thanks for your help guys & a big thanks to NTL for their help :wavey:
