Can someone give me help in setting up Norton liveupdate.
I currently connect via NTL set top box/LAN/NAT router. My operating system is Win. XP Pro, previously I had Win 98, and I managed to configure Liveupdate to automatically get updates and DAT files.
However with my current config, no joy!
Any tips greatly appreciated:dunce:

I assume the machine can browse the net no problem?
Thanks Lord,
Yeah I am browsing no prob.
I thought it was an option in the settings bit, off by default.
I have tried setting to Interactive or Express mode, but in neither connect automatically??
If you running your connection and its is working ok for browsing I would of thought this could be a possible router problem (port forwarding?)
Are you able to update manually ?
I thought that might be the problem, so how do i find out which port Liveupdate is using??
Live Update --> Configure
Check all the tabs (FTP etc) and make sure they all have 'use my Internet options' set and not the customised one.
I run Live Update thru a router with no probs.
Thanks Altis,
I have set Liveupdate to Express mode and I checked FTP,HTTP,ISP and they are all using my I.E settings?
I use Interactive Mode, but I can't see that that should make a difference.
Can you FTP to/from another site successfully?
Yeah I grabbed something off FTP yesterday,I am just looking at scheduling in the control panel.
It says Norton Netdetect could not start??
Sorry, I can't think of anything better than uninstall NU and reinstall it again.

I know it uses Norton AntiVirus Auto Protect Service in the Services - is that enabled? It also requires the RPC Service, so if you stopped that for a virus that might be causing you problems....
