Hi, & :welcome: to the site. :)

As all ntl BB products come with a 12 month contract (student deals are 9 months I believe), you are a bit stuck.

Your only option is a BT phone line, & an ADSL supplier that offers one month contracts (most offer it as an option)

Do you know how much it would cost to get a BT phone line? SOrry for putting this in the wrong forum btw!

If the property has had a BT phone line before (& most have), then reconnection is free.

maybe i'm missing something here :dunce:  but if he sticks with ntl aren't you able to cancel if you move house?!?! so why not stick with ntl?

I am pretty sure if you move somewhere that isn't NTL cabled, then they'll terminate the contract on the spot with no penalties. Hopefully some nice NTL rep will confirm that soon. If you move somewhere that is NTL cabled, then they can move you (not sure about re-installation costs).

The standard BT fresh installation is about £75 (http://www.bt.com/lines/lo_na_home.jsp?obsNoSee=Y&vStore=1114&obsPage=/lines/index.jsp&obsType=LINK&obsOID=83053)

I have a mate that works for NTL and the only way you can do that is to move to somewhere that isn't an NTL area.

You could move to a house where the owner refuses to have NTL installed.

Worked for the person in this link :)

Why would you not want your service taken with you?!?
