Hello

Just wondering if anyone here can close my account for me because I never got the broadband installed and I am still shown as an active customer...

Thanks

Are you getting billed for the account?

Let us know what area of the country you are in.

Surely this would cause a HUGE DPA issue?

Wouldn't it just be simpler to phone CS?

Yes I am getting billed for the account however the first two bills have been free due to the 60 day free trial promotion. What's DPA?

I wish someone would tell my boss that. Then I can go home and back to bed ;)

CS is open 9:00 - 6:00 on Saturday.

Hmm.. don't know the conditions of the 'free trial', but it sounds like you have to cancel by a certain date. As dOh hasn't done so, they are holding him/her to the 12-month minimum period. Could be talking rubbish though...

Did you not ask why, or did they not offer an explanation as to why?

They were "closed" and could not help me. The BIG problem about cancelling is that I have nothing to cancel. There was never anything ever installed at my house.... They can't bill me for nothing, can they?

If you can check with your bank & make sure that the direct debit mandate is cancelled, they will soon get in touch when they find out they cannot get any money from you.

Am I missing something here? I don't recall ntl doing a 60 day free trial (especially one where you cancel after two months... :erm:. )
Even so, if he had received a 60 day free trial, it would have to have been installed....but then he says he's never been installed...

Somethings not right here...

they are doing a free trail as it is mentioned in the results published last week as they believe that 78% of people who take the trail keep the service at the end of it :)

if you read back through it the orignal poster never mentions a free trial, he says he is being billed for a service that was not installed. The free trail was mentioned by someone else :)

OK, so why wait until you've already received two bills (regardless of the charge)? Still sounds dodgy to me.

Sound's like troll food to me :D

I'm on this phantom 2mnth free trial, on the 59th day I shall be one of the 22% that do cancel.
I shall do so verbally & in writing.
I will look forward to being told to keep my modem.

Ok people thanks for your help. The account should be cancelled on the 8th December 2004 and I should not be getting anymore bills from them. We will have to wait and see about that.

We do have some issues with the way the sales department set up the account, there's an option in the order for "broadband bundles offer" which can set it to free for 60 days. but I have had a lot of customers coming to me and I've had to give them a manual credit

But yes Im affraid that once the 2 months are up, your in a legally binding contract for the 12 month period. But there are cases where people have tried to cancel but havent been able to due to problems getting in contact, or the trial date ended on the weekend etc.

Well today I got another bill that I have to pay as it is still standing. At least the account is on a pending disconnection which is half the way there. However looks like I will have to call up the disconnection department to get that 24.99 off the acocunt on Monday. Hopefully it will be the last time I have to call them up for anything as the account 'should' be disconnected on the 8th Dec. After that I hope I don't get any more bills...
