Yet again my NTL connection has messed up bigtime, I only have my CM for on-line gaming and lately my pings are through the roof which Is making games unplayable, tech support don't really care/understand as long as my browsing and d/loads are fine so I thought I'd try here before I give up hope completely.
The problem Is random one second my ping is 60 the next It's 999, here's a traceroute to the server I played on the most not sure what the asterix* means:

Slightly imbalanced, but not enough to cause much of a problem - I'll report it anyway.

Thanks, but It causes a huge problem in on-line games making them unplayable, I have'nt been able to play for over a week now which Is a bit annoying since It's all I have BB for. Thanks for the help tho.

Same ste. In northampton aswell, its been happening for a while.
You are right aout tech support and CS. All they do is a simple check on your line and they say its fine.
They wont understand unless you get an engineer there when you play the game and see for themselves, which wont happen becuase it always happens during normal gaming hours 6pm to 10pm and an NTL engineer is never going to come out during that time, and there is no one on the phones then either.

Does'nt really matter when there open, they don't care about ping only d/loads & browsing which have a very minimal impact in on-line gaming.

Anyway problem still persisting showing no signs of getting any better, the only thing I can do Is keep trying my CM when I get home from work and hope I've changed upstream channels but this could be months before It occurs again.

that tracerouted you posted to put in one word looks f**ked.

I bet your ubr is unbalanced.

* means timeout which can happen from either icmp rate limiting or in your case I think packet loss.
