Hi there, we are trying to cut down our outgoings a bit. Our NTL bill is summed up in:

1 Base Pack...........................................ÃƒÆ ’ƒâ€šÃ‚£19.49
1 Digital STB Rent...................................Ãà ¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£ -
1 Digital Email Services............................Ãâà ¢â€šÂ¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£ -
1 750 kbps NTL Broadband Internet............ÂÃ⠀šÃ‚£24.99
1 Standard 3 2 1....................................Ã⠀šÃ‚£ -
1 Line Rental with TV Pack........................Ã ¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£ -

Total Service Charges..............................Ã⠀šÃ‚£44.48

I was wondering, if we dropped the TV @ 19.49/month we will have to pay line rental on the phone, would it make it that much cheaper?

Cool, any advances on £9.49 (really isnt worth it...) And how much is BT line rental these days?

Oh and if it was worth it, I'd be looking for an ADSL ISP with Static IP 512/1MBit tiers. Good Prices? Best Service?

I get my phone 1/2 price (or a £5 off) as I don't use it hardly - How often do you use the phone (it's something like less than £10 month to qualify for this)

that's interesting - I may even qualify for that on both my lines, some months, but the 2nd one - definitely - thanks :tu:

Hey everyone,

Sorry to go off topic for a minute - but could someone explain this half price line rental thing a little more? I have a phone here that we use very rarely (usually only for incoming calls). Our bill is usually no more then £13 including the £9.50 line rental. Would I be able to call and get our line rental reduced as a result? I'm in East London.

Thanks for any help,

Phil.

<Phil cowers in the corner and begs forgiveness. He was only hoping that his post in this thread would be allowable because of the previous post about the same issue.>

In an attempt to redeem myslef I can recommend Freedom 2 Surf. I know 5 or so different people all on Freedom2Surf connections - either 512k or 1meg. They offer a static IP, no proxy servers and no cap on their Pure IP service. IIRC their uncapped 512k is £22.50 per month. There are no restrictions on what you use the service for. I think their terms and conditions say something like "you can do whatever you want as long as its legal".

There probably are cheaper alternatives but I've never heard of any customer service nightmares from f2s.

Hope this helps

In an attempt to redeem myslef < snip>

I don't think there's any need to redeem yourself. I thought your earlier post was quite relevant to the topic, and would have thought the OP might be interested in any responses to it (though apparently he wasn't)

Having said that, what's keeping you from starting your own thread? :)

The obvious suggestion is that dropping down to 300k would save you another £7. And cutting down on phone calls and allowing someone to explain how this half price line rental works, obviously :p: :)

Noooooooo 300k is icky, 64k upload when u run an IRC server and broadcast to a shoutcast server is nowhere near enough, and the thought of "USING THE INTERNET" at 30k/s sickens me:shocking:.

Thanks for the thoughts, we only made £6 of phone calls this month, wouldnt call that a great deal! :monkey:
