I am going to try and set up my brother as a VPN client with the above equipment on NTL broadband. Has anyone tried this before and had success? I wasted hours and hours at home trying to get my 'head office' end set up with ADSL and netgear DM602 and FVS318 and was wondering if I can expect the same frustration with my brothers setup!

Thanks

Mark

NTL doesn't seem to block IPSEC traffic (which is a start, not all ISPs are so accommodating).

In the past, I have successfully set up an IPSEC VPN tunnel between here and work (joining my home "network" and office network together), I've also established an L2TP VPN tunnel. Both with very little trouble.

Depending on the type of VPN tunnel you are setting up, the only frustration you may experience is the lack of a static IP address. Having said that, if you leave your router switched on, your IP address is likely to remain static for many months.

Steve.

Thanks very much Steve for the encouraging reply. I'll be trying it out soon.
