OK here's my problem
home networking two PC - both running XP
host - connected to internet via STB (600/750)
client networked to host (ICS)
both can connect to internet BUT
running Robin Walker speed tests says
Host approx 400
Client approx 700
how can this be
its looks like its not NTLs fault as client can connect at full speed

No - I've got got any p2p running in the background
No - I've not got any spyware installed
Yes - I've updated all drivers

I do have sp2 installed on the Host (but it can't be that, can it?)

I've tried re-installing windows
don't particularly want to format and do fresh install at the moment
can anyone think of anything else to try first?

TIA
Craig

How are they networked?

The fact it's running to capability on the host pc indicates either an ICS, UPnP or a networking problem, well to me anyway.

networked via ethernet (two cards in host - No router)
networking seems ok - can share files etc
if that didn't work the client couldn't connect to internet
Its the Client NOT Host thats running at full speed

Whats UPnP ?

Check the packet loss / speed on the ethernet connection between the 2 PCs...

Internet connection comes from STP into HOST puter
then from ethernet card to CLIENT
if there was loss between puters then client would be slower than host
but client is fine (700)
switched client puter off - and Host still runs at only 400
