Ive been on the 1Mbit service for some time now & its been fine, but since the "Free" upgrade to 1.5 service, ive had a very poor connection

My ip changed which isnt an issue, but ive been moved from Nottingham to Leicester, the data light is always flashing which its never done until the upgrade took place, even when my pc is off.

And now the speed is no where near what its suppose to be

Download size: 200 KB
Download time: 2.313 seconds
Download speed: 692 Kbps (kilobits per second)
Client IP Address: 82.3.32.*

Playing online games on uk servers, my ping is around 60, browsing is ok most the time, downloading is hit & miss as to what I get.

I have a Terayon modem which ive had from day 1 & not had any problems with.

Anyone got any ideas or can anything be checked?

Thanks

Sorry, stupid question time...
Have you tried rebooting the cable modem as well?
Is the problem intermittant or general?
Have you checked for any spyware or viruses?
Have you tried a different proxy?

Cheers,
Sean

Stop all downloads and games and run this speedtest here (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/speedtest.html) and then post the results along with what tier (speed) you are (supposed to be) on.

1st 128K took 1612 ms = 81310 Bytes/sec = approx 676 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 711 ms = 184349 Bytes/sec = approx 1534 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 711 ms = 184349 Bytes/sec = approx 1534 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 711 ms = 184349 Bytes/sec = approx 1534 kbits/sec

Ive turned the modem off for 24hrs, I have no viruses, ive checked & no spyware is on my pc according to spybot & ad-aware.

The problem has only been since the service changed.

Im on the 1mb service (which is now the 1.5mbit service)

I've noticed (150k upgraded to 300k) - and my friend (600k-750k), that it does seem to be a little shaky lately - I wonder if the speed upgrades are overstressing something, or maybe the drops from what it CAN do are more obvious.

My 600k > 750k seems to have made little if no difference, have rebooted everything btw.

600 > 750 has been great , the connections been a lot more consistant
it used to be all over the place but now every time i test it its been 750 give or take 1-3kbits

for me everything is fine and i get full 88kb/sec on 750kbit service however my area isnt officially upgraded yet so bulk of ppl will be on old speeds.

Got an engineer coming to see me on Monday, as i have a low signal strength at the box up the road.
If he fixes it i,m going to put a couple of flags out.
When it stops raining of course. :(
