I have a D-Link wireless router which has worked for me before on my same setup. Having for some weeks been running my laptop on a direct connection from my cable modem I decided to switch back to wireless so that I could work from elsewhere in house. So I unplugged by cable from my laptop and plugged into the router.

All apparently is fine. The network is working and I am correctly logged into it, the signal strength is high - but the browser cannot find the connection. According to Correct Connect the IP address of the target cannot be found. How can this be? What can I do about it please?

Have you rebooted the cable modem?

No, I hadn't - but now that I have it works! Many many thanks - but why should that be necessary? I had rerun the NTL broadband installer and that had no effect though presumably it would also have rebooted the modem.

IIRC, you need to reboot the CM to get it to recognise a change of MAC address.

correct :tu: in theory you don't have to reboot the CM, but in practise you do...
