When should we update the virus defs?Always have mine set to auto update, but check manually every day as well.

IMHO You should check for new updates at least once a day to make sure you are covered against any eventuality.

IMHO You should check for new updates at least once a day to make sure you are covered against any eventuality.

that's one of the nice things about the EZ Antivirus I'm trying atm - they email when an update is available, and so far they have been almost on a daily basis.

Thankfully a lot of software houses have learnt how reliable end users are for running updates ;) A lot of anti-virus software automatically updates every X hours, when you get a warning like this though it's a good idea to run it again just in case ;) No point taking risks when you don't need to, I've lost track of how many times my friends say the phrase...
"What do you mean update the definitions? I thought it did that itself anyway!"
You could get unlucky and be hit just before your anti-virus software checks for new files :(
