Hi,

Does anyone know if there is anywhere that can check for private reccomended pc repairers/checks, without having to go to a pc shop.

Coventry/Nuneaton area. (ntl Broadband experienced preferred)

Am I asking too much?

Local paper is always a good place to start!! Have a look in the classifieds!!!

Also yellow pages and thompson local are good places!!!

But one thing i would say, the bigger the add does not necessarily mean better service!!!

Just out of interest what wrong with ur pc??

With a bit of advice most people can do most things with a pc, you never know, post whats wrong and you might save some money!!!

Cheers

Thanks for replies.

Problem:-

I have to switch printer on before pc otherwise if I switch on after pc I either get disconnected from internet or cannot connect.

I have ntl Broadband, I have uninstalled and re-installed printer, still happens.

Are you using USB for both your printer and your cable modem? If so you might be better off using a network card for broadband.

USB connection have been known to create the symptoms you describe.

Pop in to your local computer store (PC World is fine) and ask for a 10/100 mbps Network Card. You can get ones for about £6 but just to be sure I'd recommend spending around £15 on one.

Price isn't really relevant...

I find good results from the Realtek cards which are cheap & cheerful, whereas the NetGear FA311 cards tend to be more unreliable yet more expensive. 3Com are always preferable but cost the most.

if you are hooking up to an NTL SACM or STB you don't even need the 10/100 option, the 10Mbit will do fine...
