Hi all,

Can anybody tell me if I am on the gold or silver tariff?

I upgraded to 1MB for a month, decided I didn't need it so call CS and downgrded back to 600.

I have just checked docsdiag, and get this:

QoS max upstream bandwidth = 256000 bps
QoS max downstream bandwidth = 1024000 bps
SigQu: Signal to Noise Ratio = 31.7 dB
Cable modem status = Operational
Upstream transmit signal power = 45.2 dBmV
Date and Time = 2004-06-14,14:36:21.0
Configuration filename = ntlhm120-silver.cm

I appear to be on a silver config but a 1024000 bps.

More importantly, what am I being charged for?
My DD doesn't come out till later in the month so I don't know what I'm paying.

might be an idea to call cust services to confirm what package your on because you have forgot Just in case you havent been downgraded and they bill you for the 1mb service

Just called CS. I am on Silver. He did tell me that the speeds have just been increased, but that would only put me on 750.

I was upfront with him, and he didn't seem bothered that I appear to be getting 1mb for the price of 600, So all is well.

I'll probably find it dropped to 750 by tomorrow!:D

I have just spoken to NTL customer services and the speed increases still have no set date, but the person did slip up and mention that the 1Mb will probably be going to 2Mb instead of 1.5Mb to be 'sort of inline with Telewest and will rise to 3Mb when the 2 companies merge' (I must have missed something if this has been mentioned!!!!!).

A bizarre one indeed. You are receiving the gold CM file, hence the 1024k cap being shown - I'm rather confused as to why docsdiag is reporting silver! Wanna give me your IP address so I can check this out?
Speed increase rumours = nonsense, the new CM files have not been distributed to DHCPs yet so I'd be rather impressed to say the least if you managed to download them now...

Enough about your love life, n00b.

That is an odd one though. I'd tend to trust the filename more than the upstream/downstream speeds when it comes to which service you're being billed for, as the billing system has no knowledge of the speeds, just the service level. Hence if it's giving you silver, it should be charging you silver*

1.5Mb - 2Mb? It's a good thing we let the customer support people announce things, isn't it?

* If it's working properly that is...
