hi i live in stafford and my local proxy is birmingham which is pants so in tools i have changed this to nottingham which seems a lot faster but i connect to the internet through a belkin router ,my question is that i have an xbox linked to the router as well but which proxy would that connect to , might seem a dumb question but would be thankfull for any help :dunce:

I am not an expert at this but I would say if it uses http to connect to any games servers then it will go through the proxy selected in the browser..

Your proxy is only for the web browsing really so only works on whats passing through port 8080..

Changing the proxy in IE wont make any difference to gaming.

thanks for your help ,i only ask cause i have been on xbox live since september and had no probs till the birmingam area went down for a day in january,since then my xbox live has been laggey .i play with the same people, same set up and just looking for an answer, thanks again

I should speak to them and ask why its happened after all you pay to be able to use it online and if its laggy then you can't.

i have (every other day) they say the birmingham area is waiting for an memory upgrade ??? they couldnt say when but gave me a free month on my 1mb so will have to see if it improves

I've stopped using the birmingham proxy.

Time NTL turned all proxies off and turned the machines to something more usefull for the company and customers. Proxies are not usefull to customers..

I would suggest that poster may be on an unbalanced uBR - proxies are completely irrelevant to online gaming.
