Hi,

I've noticed a gradual deterioration in performance in Newport West, South Wales over the past 6 months. This has been partly due to continuing DNS problems but also, I suspect, because of heavy network usage locally.

Worst times for me are between 5pm and 7pm monday to friday and daytime at weekends. At peak periods my 1 meg service is barely faster than a friends 150K

This week it's been bl***y c**p!

Anybody else in this area notice these problems.

Have you spoken to Tech Support about this? (0845 650 0121)

If you are experiencing peak time problems, the chances are you are on an oversubscribed UBR. :(

yep i would go along with that , on the subject of oversubbed ubr's then maybe a little bit of docsdiaging might not go a miss, at least if you ring ntl to complain then you have some hard evidence to provide :)

I live in Newport and I'm pretty sure my connection is fine pretty much 24/7.

I have a CM in Newport, and it's working fine on 1024k, as is my CM in Cardiff, also on 1024 (although Cardiff & Newport run on different UBR's)
