According to figures compiled by broadband.co.uk for The Guardian, residential customers in the UK are paying nearly a quarter more for their telephone landline rental than they were three years ago. Inflation, as measured by RPI, only increased by 13% over the same time period.
BT, AOL, Virgin Media, Plusnet, Sky and TalkTalk have all raised their prices, or announced price rises, recently. Sky has raised its prices for the second time in three months, with a price rise to £14.50 from December this year – because of this, Sky will allow customers to cancel this service with no penalties if they wish to.
