Virgin/Spotify service details start to emerge - but only just

Virgin Media boss Neil Berkett used the company’s second-quarter results presentation to reveal a few details of the company’s forthcoming tie-up with Spotify.
The Virgin/Spotify service will cost “significantly less” than Spotify’s standalone Premium tier, which currently sells at £9.99 per month.
In fact, Berkett explained to a meeting of investment analysts that the Virgin/Spotify service, which will be bundled with Virgin’s broadband offering, will be available at a “very, very low monthly subscription”.
But that’s just about all we now know. The exact price-point remains a closely-guarded secret, as does the way in which the service will be marketed to customers of Virgin’s other services.
The announcement came during a presentation of quarterly results that revealed Virgin Media lost 36,000 customers in the three months to 30 June 2011 but still grew average revenue per customer by 3.2% to £47.35 and overall company revenue to £986 million.
Berkett confirmed that a key aim of the Spotify deal will be to use it as part of its drive to use content to persuade customers to buy more of its services.
