Cable growing faster than sky?

For the first time since 2001, Virgin added more subscribers in a quarter than sky. Virgin Media added 36,100 new homes compared to 32,020 new homes for sky. 70, 000 homes had Free-to-view satellite installed. Freeview, however, made the biggest gain: 700,000 homes.
Cable TV has outperformed sky for the first time since 2001 in the first quarter of this year, according to Ofcom’s quarterly Digital TV update.
Further to that, 1.96 million Freeview enabled devices were bought in the same period, although these figures are undoubtedly helped by Cable and Sky subscribers upgrading their TVs to take advantage of HD.
Indeed, Freeview is now viewed in more homes than any other digital TV service. 8.4 million homes have Freeview, compared with just over 8 million for sky. Virgin Media is third, with 3.4 million subscribers.
