Virgin Mobile changing providers?
Reading this article about the proposed O2 and Three merger (which I disagree with but that's besides the point) and noted a couple of interesting snippets
Quote:
Sky, Virgin, Tesco and UK Broadband have agreed to use Three-O2's share of UK airwaves to offer their own mobile packages, the company said.
|
Then later on in the article Tom Mockridge has weighed in, in support of the merger
Quote:
Tom Mockridge, Virgin Media chief executive, said: "A combined O2-Three would provide a counter balance to the strength of BT/EE, offering an alternative source of capacity to other providers who will drive competition in their own right."

This happening could be why VM have been dragging their heels with regards to getting 4G support. Whether changing providers is dependant on the merger going through however remains to be seen

Re: Virgin Mobile changing providers?
No Virtual Provider apart from BT is allowed EEs 4G service, or is willing to pay for it.

The 4G service is via Three not EE.

Have Virgin said or even given a time scale for 4G?

All I've read is that VM Ireland have 4G scheduled in for the first half of this year. I wonder if VM may be waiting on the results of the O2/Three deal?

Re: Virgin Mobile changing providers?
Just as my VM contract was due to run out 2 years ago,I asked about 4G and I was told that it would be 'out in weeks'. So I went on a 24 month contract on that basis.
Last week my contract expired and VM CS didnt have a clue when 4G would launch if ever so I've now moved to Three not just for 4G but also for their 'Feel At Home' free international roaming.

Which came in handy for me when I had to go to the USA.
VM is only Business 4G from what I can tell,
They seem hot on lies to get business. I was told it was unlimited but got a letter saying I was being removed from the plan due to me using more than the 3GB a month limit. Based on that I got myself removed from the contract all together. after 4 months out of 24.
