V6 recording query

Hi, I’m new to the group and need your advice please. Our recently installed Virgin V6 box is already at 60% capacity with recordings yet to be watched. Is there an easy way of transferring these recordings to either a DVD, usb drive or similar, so that they can be watched on other devices ie laptop PC etc? My wife travels a lot for work and it was our hope that recordings could be transferred so that she can watch them on the train using her Microsoft Surface laptop. Thanks in advance.

Re: V6 recording query

If you have an Android, iOS or Amazon Fire device you can use the Virgin TV Control app to temporarily download selected recordings to watch out of the home.

This is depending on the content provider allowing the download.

These downloaded recordings can be kept on a device for 30 days, and once you start watching them they will be available for 48 hours. My understanding is that once they're downloaded on to the mobile device, the original recording on the box isn't needed anymore.

Re: V6 recording query

Isn't the storage on those sorts of devices going to be a bit small to make any sort of a dent in a 500Gb V6? If the V6 transcodes from MPEG2 to MPEG4 in the copying process, that might help.

Yes, the box does trans-code the recordings into a mobile friendly format.

It's why the transfers take a while to complete as they're trans-coded as part of the transfer - not ahead of time.

Don't worry about it - I have yet to find any recordings I can download to my iPad, so it's storage (64gb) isn't a factor.

V6 is 1Tb not 500gb
