Samsung Galaxy S2 reboot loop

This morning I turned my phone on to find it constantly rebooting. It gets to the phone lock screen and then just restarts. It never prompts me for the PIN code. I had to take the battery out to stop it. I now have it charging in case it is a battery issue, although I'm pretty sure it isn't.

The phone is on a Virgin contract and was supplied by Virgin. It is running stock 4.0.3 and has not been rooted.

Any ideas?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 reboot loop

Have you tried it since then?

Not sure what would cause that.

Yes I have just tried it after the charge and it is still doing it.

If I take the SIM card out it stops the reboot cycle and I can enter the phone getting passed the lock screen, but the screen goes black and I then get an error on the screen saying that twlauncher has had to close.

I've got the battery and SIM card out now. I'm reluctant to do a factory reset as I will lose everything!

Nah, not for me.

I like to use a product I own the way I want to, not the way the manufacturer tells me

I think it might actually have been down to ESET Mobile Security.

If I took the SIM out the phone would load to home screen and as soon as the ESET icon appeared in the notification bar twlauncher crashed followed by an ESET crash. This just cycled round in a loop. I've done a full factory reset so now in the process of rebuilding it!

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2 reboot loop

flash a custom recovery on it and do a nandroid back up so if it happens again you just reset and recover from the image. The custom recoveries are clockwork mod which is much better than stock recovery
