Upgraded speed???
Hi all,
I noticed this about a month ago but kept quiet in case it was a trial, and I havent seen a post here about it..
I'm on the Homeworks 300Mb package, but my config says 400Mb, and I can hit the full 400Mb.
Can anyone please shed some light on this please?
Screenshot of Shub page as evidence, I note also that it is still 20Mb upload with only 2 upload slots.

Re: Upgraded speed???
That is the standard download speed configuration for the 350mbps tier.
I haven't been following the reports too closely, but people have said that customers signing up for 300mbps packages have been given the 350mbps package.

Re: Upgraded speed???
Thats weird as I have been on Homeworks for over a year, well before even the engineers knew about it lol
Its a shame they dont upgrade the upload speed, 50Mb upload would be great!

It's a legacy issue: The original NTL etc system was aimed at cable TV where large down stream bandwidth is needed to support hundreds of TV channels, the up channels were for low bandwidth handset use with interactive TV. Using the various flavours of DOCSIS they've done the best they can without completely re-engineering the system.
When we eventually get FTTP...

if you sign into myVM you'll see that you are not on "homeworks" anymore (I think they are trying to get rid of it) and have been upgraded to vivd350.

I was on Homeworks 300 too, but my account page now says I am on Vivid 300. My config is the same Arty's. I generally get a download speed of 386Mb.
As for the upstream achieving 50Mb. Yes, it would be good. Perhaps when DOCSIS 3.1 and 4 bonded upstream channels are applied to the old architecture they may squeeze a bit more up speed out of the system. When I was on the speed trial in Coventry, some years ago, my config was for 30Mb upstream. I maxed at 28Mb.
All new VM areas are on FTTP, ready for new products. Large sections of south Coventry have just been completed, for example. Eventually the massive pull-through and box conversion job of upgrading cable areas to fibre will happen, but some of us will have a long wait.
