Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2018)
Looks like most of the stuff on UKTV is old repeats, never appealed to me so it's no big loss.

They don't just show old repeats. There is a lot of new stuff and US imports too.

Which is why this is a very dangerous game that VM are playing. The most watched channels are all available FTA. Actually encouraging customers to go onto Freeview to regain some of the withdrawn UKTV channels seems like commercial madness to me.

BBC News web site says that Virgin Media UK did offer to broadcast Drama, Dave, Really, Home and Yesterday but UKTV remove the offer an the 11th hour.

Indeed there is probably more new stuff on there then the relentless repeats that you can get on the main bouquet of BBC channels.

Which are then promptly repeated on the free UKTV channels, according to Virgin.

But the free UKTV channels were on Virgin before all this erupted, Richard. I don't think that is what will drive people away from VM. It's the loss of the pay tv UKTV channels that will do that. But I have to say that there is very little on these channels that causes me to be concerned about their departure. Admittedly, I had set up 'Harrow' to record, but I am confident that this programme will pop up elsewhere before long!

Well I get a discount full package excluding premier sports normal price £130 I pay £102 got a further £3 off and they gave me a £20 credit but they said due to the amount of complaints the reductions have been restricted
|
I too rang to explain that I would have to pay £7.99 a month to regain these channels and ask that this be reimbursed. The rubbish that I was initially told is followed by my answer:
"But you don't watch the UKTV channels sir". Yes I do, I record everything if that makes a difference to your records.
"But it's not in your top five channels". So what, most people, myself included, mostly watch the PSB channels".
"We have listened to customer feedback and replaced these channels". Nonsense, it's all about a carriage fee dispute.
"You can regain the UKTV channels for free by downloading their app". Yes, but this does not cover the pay channels that I watch such as GOLD and Watch.
Repeated four times until it sank in with him.
"We have replaced these channels, including Premier Sports which is normally £21 a month". I don't like sport and, in any case, Premier Sports was off air for most of this afternoon and this is only for 8 weeks. The other channels are either available FTA or I have no interest in them (I also don't think that Premier Sports costs that much either).
"You are already receiving a substantial discount". So what, what has been negotiated in the past isn't relevant to this change of service.
"There is nothing we can do". Ok, I'd like to cancel all services on the basis that you are in breach of contract.
"We have not broken our contract as we have replaced the channels". I disagree, I regard this as a material and significant change in the service agreed upon under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
" So, if we add an extra channel are we in breach of contract if we add an extra channel?". No, but removing and/or replacing channels is another matter entirely. Please cancel all services.
" You need to give 30 days notice by calling cancellations tomorrow. There will be an early disconnection fee of £240". No there won't, If you try to impose this I will challenge it in court, particularly as there have been claims that other customers have been allowed to leave penalty free.
"I can give you £3 a month off". That still leaves me £4.99 worse off a month, as well as the added inconvenience.
"That is the best I can do for you. I can apply the credit and you will still be able to cancel tomorrow when they are open if you wish". So you're happy to let a domestic and commercial customer of 18 years leave over this?
We're not happy no, but there is nothing further that we can do.
So, i've got a partial refund and will now have to consider my options. This situation even made if onto the BBC evening news!

In my view UKTV has lost it way in the Digital World - they have launch too much channels.
Back in 1997 UKTV Network was:
-UK Gold - Launch November 1992 (Now called GOLD)
-UK Arena - Launch November 1997 (Now called Alibi)
-UK Style - Launch November 1997 (Now called Home)
-UK Horizons - Launch November 1997 (Now called Yesterday)

Wow claiming to know what you watch. Claiming lies over the removal of channel, claiming you would have to pay a early termination fee and £3 discount. Discounts are minimal, have the worked out it might be cheaper to meet them somewhere in the middle

Virgin Media and Sky do it.
For viewing figures I mean how do they know over 20m watching England playing in the world cup and how many watch the royal wedding if they did not know? But saying that why do someone in CS need to know that we do not know.
Why are you watch Babenation?

But to make individual customer claims it’s not something customer relations would know but yes there are people who would know, not watching it yet too many clothes
