Now confirmed that Virgin Media Ireland will rebrand all it's channels in the new year. TV3, 3e and b3 will all carry Virgin branding according to the Belfast Telegraph:

Although 2018 looks like being a bad year for new channels, and we will almost certainly lose one or two as you say, I am hoping that there will be better news in respect of on demand and apps.

I have a suspician - no more than that - we could see UHD on demand programming coming to our V6 boxes this spring/summer (in what quantity I do not know) and the addition of more apps, including Amazon.

I also think that Sky Atlantic will be on all boxes in 2019, but spitefully, in SD only.

I would not rule out seeing AMC as part of a new wholesale deal with BT in 2019. Hopefully, we can get the HD version of that.

We think if AMC doesn't go onto more platforms then it might be a gonner in 2018,
regarding SKY Atlantic in HD that'll be down to BT and VM the option is there.
What i think we will see is a growth in online services and apps, also we have heard rumblings of vm testing 1gb broadband speeds too.

That sounds about right, but I'm not sure I am as pessimistic as you about AMC. If the channel isn't producing sufficiently high viewing figures (and let's face it, the channel is only available on BT) then I would expect that the channel would simply drop the exclusivity arrangement with BT. That would resolve the problem immediately.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2018)

But do we really need New channels so just to clog up the EPG with yet more repeats and yet more multiple showings of NCIS stuffed down a throat 12 times a day across half a dozen different channels?
All the big TV productions from both here and the US are available to us already, ofcourse with the exception of Sky Atlantic or Amazon original content, yet both these are readily available to via Smart tv or devices, albeit for a small charge.
I think surely we should be focusing on new prime and original content rather than having a hissy fit because we havent got the 300 odd channels of mindless repeats, shopping, and cross channel same programming, such as Sky provide, that some people seem to crave.
Quality over quantity.

I agree that we should be focussing on content, not new channels.

However, it is fair to say that original content that is not available elsewhere on legal channels is available on Sky Atlantic and AMC. Hence, these are the linear channels I would really like to see on VM.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2018)

Good afternoon people. A new thread and a new year delightful. What sort of year will it be?

Good- apps for tivo box (amazon, wwe please) and sky atlantic even though i wont watch it. Not overly aggressive price increases. Some daft irrelevant channels come but we celebrate anyway as i like new things. Fox News arrives even though its left sky due to someone in liberty wanting a chuckle.

Bad- sod all comes. Tivo box is ignored. 6 or 7 price increases as liberty claw their beady hands around the business . No channels.

Lets hope for goodies.
