HOw do I configure 2 routers to work together?

Hello everyone,

I have a Belkin F5D7632-4 ADSL Modem Router (wireless) as my main networking device.

I also have a spare Belkin F5D7632-4 ADSL Modem Router (wireless)
that I would also like to use upstairs as another point of entry to my home network.

Question is, how?
I don't want to use the modem bit, I just want access via the wired ports through the ether of wireless to the main router & out to the world.

Trying them both on, seperate PC's while in the router config for the spare, the main router config page said it was in use.
So it seems to me that it should not be at IP 192.168.2.1.
Any suggestions for what it should be?
How do I get it to also use DHCPfor whatever is plugged into it? or should I set it up to be non DHCP with specific ports for whatever is plugged into it? (and how).

Any helpful suggestions welcome.

I cant see how you can do this wirelessly.Wired the second router would act as a switch but I cant see it working wirelessly.I hope im wrong cuz then ill learn something new today

Sounds like what you need is a WAP that supports bridge mode or a printer server that does the same.

Hi,
I wanted to connect a WRT54GS to the BEFSR41 routers and this is how Linksys support told me how to do it, hopefully it will give you an idea on how to configure your Belkin routers.

You could link the routers with a pair of homeplug/powerline bridges (e.g. http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline.htm), as they have to be near sockets anyway.

You commonly find that ADSL modems dont support Wireless Bridging...

However if you can somehow connect the two networks with cable you should be able to

I picked up a linksys ADSL pack from Dixons (impulse buy I didnt need it just was intrigued as to why they were selling a pack for Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£40 when it should of cost me Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£80 - the manager was not impressed) -

Anyway having no need for the router I just changed the ADSL settings to an internal static IP with default route and DHCP as per the home network - note that the router needs to be physically plugged into the network (no wireless bridging eith mine either)

a quick search and restating that need for "Wireless Bridge/WDS" it seems some belkin have it some dont read some more.

some 3rd party firmware can be used but not sure about your belkin as much of its only now becoming usable in linux and i dont keep up with the router side of it or weather they have managed to put something on there or not.

keep looking and you can update us here perhaps..
